Notre Dame: uno dei capolavori in assoluto dell’Arte Gotica francese ed uno
degli emblemi più noti della città di Parigi. Come spesso succede nelle grandi
cattedrali, viene edificata attraverso un lasso di tempo molto lungo, tanto da
attraversare secoli e generazioni. 170 anni sono i tempi di realizzazione per
Notre Dame, dal 1163 al 1330 circa. Il rosone è quello della splendida facciata
gotica meridionale, innalzata intorno al 1250 da Pierre de Montreuil, la struttura
tipica a nervature sottili che si dipartono a raggiera dal centro ed “esplodono”
verso l’esterno, con un sistema “ad onde progressive”.
Notre Dame is one of the main masterpieces of French Gothic art and also one
of the major landmarks in Paris. As it often happened with big cathedrals it took
long to build it, works went on for centuries, generation after generation. 170 years
were necessary to build Notre Dame, from 1163 to about 1330. On the wonderful
southern façade of this cathedral, built in about 1250 by Pierre de Montreuil, there
is a rose window that features the typical structure with thin ribbing radiating from
the centre and moving towards the outer part with a series of “progressive waves”.
