Cod. 1537 | ||
Needle lace worked using the reticello technique on a linen cloth with cutwork executed with linen thread. The edgings are highlighted by openwork embroideries arranged in two rows. The decorative motives, enclosed in square frames, alternated two separate typologies, diamond shapes with a rosette in the centre and arches at the corners and fragments of indented wheels. Similar motives were found in Italian pattern books of the second half of the Sixteenth century and were considered suitable to trim personal underwear or home furnishings. | ||
