Horizontal, pedal-driven spinning wheel. The spinning is the process through which a thread is obtained processing the raw fibers. The preliminary phases are: the unravelling, during which all the impurities are eliminated from the bulk of the fibers, that are then untangled; the carding, that, using special machines, called cards, arranges the fibers in parallel and orient them in a single direction. The combing, to achieve the homogeneity of the fibers, the shorter of which are removed. The more specific operation regarding the spinning are: the ironing, through which the rove is shortened, the twisting, with which the thread is strengthened, and the wounding of the thread on the spindle. | ||
