Why the stamps? Lace, too, has featured on postage stamps, although it appeared in the context of portraits of famous people and never as a subject in its own right. It was not until 8 October 2004, cancellation day, that the first Italian stamp dedicated to the art of lace, created by Arnaldo Caprai, made its first “public appearance”.
